Knowledge Hierarchies

I have been pondering knowledge hierarchies for a number of years. I originally drafted these slides one night at home while I was working as Knowledge Architect at Intuit. They never went anywhere, but I still think there are some interesting ideas, and I'd love to get your feedback.
Cheers!

Interesting slide #2. I see

Interesting slide #2. I see how it's natural for us to think that "understanding principles" is a higher-level of knowledge than "understanding patterns". Perhaps that is because we spend most of our lives looking for patterns and then create theories to explain why they are there.

It seems like there is a similar relationship comparing meaning/understanding through statistical machine-learning vs. logical knowledge-base learning... sometimes statistics/patterns are enough and attributing some higher-level principles is more revealing about the theorist's background and inclinations than any sort of universal truth/knowledge.
